Turkey Trot For Good Causes

The 2nd Annual Hallsley 5K Fun Run/Walk Turkey Trot was held on Sunday, November 20, 2016, to raise funds for St. Baldrick’s Foundation for childhood cancer research and ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation to help make life better for children with cancer. The Turkey Trot is a fun run/walk for the whole family to do together while making a difference in the lives of children with cancer. Two families in Hallsley have been impacted by the diagnosis of cancer in their beautiful children. Participants ran in honor of sweet Rosalie Vaughan and sweet angel Luke Ungerer.

As we reflect this Thanksgiving season on our own blessings, Hallsley residents are ready do whatever we can to help end childhood cancer. The race was not timed, so it didn’t matter if you come in 1st, 50th or 100th – just that you made it to the start line.

All entry fees were a donation of the participant’s choice to either St. Baldrick’s Foundation and/or ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. Donations are still being accepted at:

Bo Vaughan’s famous homemade Brunswick stew was available for sale for a $10 donation to ASK. River City Wood Fire Pizza was also there firing up pizzas for purchase all afternoon and Nightingale’s Homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches were also for sale. A portion of all pizza sales were donated to the cause. Thank you to Bo Vaughan and Joe Lajoie, owner of River City Wood Fire Pizza!

Big thanks goes to Sonja Harris and the Hallsley HILLbillies Running Group for helping with the organization of this event and volunteering along the course! Nick Read, Emily Stein, Dennis Dickson, Jason Plamp, Jason Livingston, Rich Griffith, Stephen Werkmeister, and Cristie Lucas of the running group and residents Deana Roberts, Katie Krasner, and Jennifer Hermanson. We could not do this without your help!
